Aligned reports 10% more cooling capacity

Aligned adds a same-footprint cooling revision

Aligned Data Centers announced Delta Cube 3.0 on October 28. Developed with Munters, the air-cooling system is designed for data-center spaces serving high-density computing. Aligned says it keeps the unit’s physical footprint while increasing cooling capacity by 10% and air-cooling energy efficiency by 10%.

Those percentages are the company’s claims. Its release gives no absolute capacity, comparison baseline or test conditions. It says North American units are manufactured at Munters facilities in Selma, Texas, and Daleville, Virginia. Aligned described a product launch, not a reported shipment or customer installation.

What the redesigned components do

Fans move air through heat-exchange surfaces, where heat transfers into another circuit and can be carried away. Aligned says engineers reworked the unit’s heat exchangers, fan impellers and drive motors. The release describes a change to cooling equipment, not a new source of electricity.

Analogy: imagine improving a radiator and its fan so they can move heat within the same space. That helps explain the design goal, but it is not evidence that a particular data center has measured the claimed gains.

Why cooling efficiency matters to AI sites

Cooling equipment uses electricity alongside servers and networking. If Delta Cube 3.0 removes heat with less fan-and-motor power, an operator could keep more of a site’s electrical supply available for computing or other equipment. Aligned’s chief technology officer says the company expects saved energy to serve customers, but the release includes no measured watt savings.

Aligned also describes zero water consumption for operational cooling in its closed-loop system. That statement concerns this cooling process, not a whole-campus water total. The release does not quantify water or power use at any named customer site.

What would show the gains in practice

Useful follow-up evidence would identify the old and new designs used for comparison, report cooling output and electricity under the same test load, and show results after installation. Aligned names no customer site, order volume or operating measurements, so the scale of the claimed improvement remains unknown.
