Privacy and visitor analytics
Updated September 24, 2026
Grid & Silicon uses Google Analytics only after you allow analytics. There is no automatic consent popup. Analytics can be enabled voluntarily through Analytics preferences in the footer. Declining does not affect access to the site.
What analytics measures
Visits, pages viewed, referring websites, device and browser information, approximate geography, reading time, scroll depth, navigation, source-link clicks, search use and map controls. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish browsers and visits. These measurements help us understand which coverage readers find useful.
Our custom events do not send typed search terms, form contents, names or email addresses. Page addresses sent by our integration exclude query strings and fragments. We do not enable advertising personalization, Google signals or session recordings.
Your choice
Use Analytics preferences in the footer to allow or decline analytics. Your choice is stored in this browser for up to 180 days. Declining stops further collection through our integration and clears its Google Analytics cookies; it does not delete data already received by Google. We also respect Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals.
Google and other services
When analytics is allowed, your browser sends usage data to Google. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Hosting and third-party content such as maps and YouTube may process connection information separately from optional analytics.
Measurement limits
Analytics starts after it is enabled and cannot reconstruct earlier visits. Consent choices, browser protections and ad blockers can prevent collection. Counts describe measured browsers and activity, not a verified count of individual people.
